  1. A Personal Logo Grade 10 Visual Arts Portfolio and Logo Design

  2. Specifications: • Create a design that represents your identity. • This design is to be placed on a Bristol board sized portfolio and on the cover of your VRJ. • Create a Tag for your Portfolio and a Logo for the cover of your VRJ • Media will be your choice (dry media).

  3. Personal Logos

  4. Research: • Collect images from various graphic artists, graffiti, logos, monograms, and/or interesting typography. • You must also have at least 4 thumbnails of interesting text-based images.

  5. A special symbol that is associated with the product. Logos take three forms: Monograms (KFC) Visual symbols (Toucan Sam) Abstract symbols (Nike “swoosh”) Logo or Trademarks

  6. Brand Name • A word or group of words that a business uses to distinguish its products. • Brand names should be distinctive, easy to remember, say something about the product, and communicate a positive image.

  14. Experimentation and Preliminary sketches: • Experiment with a variety of dry media, stencils, and cut outs. • Create at least 10 thumbnail sketches of possible ideas for your design. • Make sure to include some tags as well as logos.

Prototype: • Select your three strongest ideas and develop them further (add or erase elements). • With your partner or group, decide on a final design. • Improve your design and create a final drawing of your personal logo. • You may use various types of paper, pastel, pencil crayon and/or pencil.

  20. Presentation: • You then create the design on the front flap of your portfolio. • You may use construction paper to cut out your design and adhere it to your portfolio, pastel, oil pastel or a variety of other media.

  21. Presentation: • Also consider trimming the front flap of your portfolio in order to ensure easy access. • You must also create a logo design for the cover of your Visual Resource Journal using oil pastels.

Peer Review and Reflection • You will then be given the opportunity to look at and make assessments for learning. • Switch your portfolio with a colleague and make constructive comments for improvement • Examples: • things you would add, change, delete, do differently • things you really like, want to see more of, and wonder about.
