What is Baptism? • Note: When considering this word in English, be careful with definitions – they might include things different than Biblical teaching. Also, some denominational sources define the word with a doctrinal slant.
What is Baptism? • The word is actually a transliteration (the conversion of a text from one language to another) • The Bible clarifies what baptism actually is. • And so will we!

Elements of Baptism • It’s subjects • Repentant believers • EVERY example began with hearing the word and believing. • 1 Peter 3:21, “…not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God.”
Elements of Baptism • ALL four elements are necessary for proper baptism • If any element is missing, then the baptism is NOT valid! • Acts 19:1-5, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
