  3. Evaluating Internet Resources Authority(who is the author/sponsor?) • The site may be affiliated with a group. • Credentials make this person or group an expert. • If you cannot determine the source, DO NOT USE! • Look at “Biography,” “About us,” “Contact us”; shorten the web address.

  4. Evaluating Internet Resources Accuracy • How reliable is the content? • Use your judgement and look for verification of the information (editor, bibliography, citations). • Make sure the information agrees with what you have found in books, periodicals, and other online sources.

  5. Evaluating Internet Resources Objectivity • Be aware of bias. It will determine how you use the website. • Does the website clearly explain its purpose?

  6. Evaluating Internet Resources Currency • When was it updated? • Undated factual or statistical information is no better than anonymous information. • Make sure the page has been updated recently. • Try a few links to make sure they are still “active.”

  7. Evaluating Internet Resources Coverage(how thorough?) • Is it well-written and easy to understand? • Is the material as in-depth as you need? • Does the site have a variety of resources / information?

  8. Evaluating Internet Resources Appearance(what does it look like?) • Are there more than three errors (spelling or grammar)? • Is the site difficult to view, read, and navigate? • If the webmaster doesn’t proofread or make the site easy to use, they may not care about the information they put on it…MOVE ON!
