  2. Start Now! • You can read to babies from day one. The more you read they better they get at listening • Make it a ritual, do it every day

  3. At first you can read anything to babies just to entertain you both! • Share stories in any language to help develop reading and listening skills • Books with rhyme and repetition are excellent for developing language skills

  4. As they get older…. • Children may want to hear the same story again and again. Have them fill in words for you • Children may love reading about a certain character, choose several books in a series or a chapter a night • Once they are reading, pick a book at their level and read to each other
