What is Disaster Clinic? • Disaster Clinics are informal group sessions or conferences • Offering counsel or instruction in specific fields, activities and issues concerning disaster. • Disaster Clinic will create a common platform for the disaster practitioners • Interact and share personal thoughts, views, newer ideas, experiences, etc. and • Enhance professional capacity of the disaster practitioners.
NIRAPAD • Network for Information, Response And Preparedness Activities on Disaster - NIRAPAD is “Knowledge Management Network” Focus on Three Areas; • Knowledge Management • Disaster situation analysis • Support global initiatives (SPHERE, HAP, ECB) • Maintaining resource archives • Research and publications
NIRAPAD • Technical support DRR and CCA • Training event and resource- module, handbook & handout • Develop SOP, strategy and procedures • Partnership & Collaboration • Reputation (Goodwill) and branding • Value addition in disaster and CC knowledge • Promoting and demonstrating accountability • Support event management
NIRAPAD involve in Clinic • NIRAPAD study and research tried to explore, identify, learn and document interesting facts and evidence, knowledge gaps, new approach, etc. • NIRAPAD learning process look at disaster and other disaster contributing factors from a different dimension, which possibly might add a little momentum to the holistic DRM effort. • NIRAPAD wishes to expand its experiences and knowledge amongst the practitioners and stakeholders through Disaster Clinic.
What is the purpose and objective of the Clinic? • Purpose • To contribute in generation, re-generation and expansion process of disaster related knowledge; • Objectives • Creating a common platform for the disaster practitioners to interact and share thoughts and idea; • To enhance professional capacity of the disaster practitioners • To Document the existing learning and experiences
What is the process of conducting Disaster clinic? • The discussion topics for the Disaster Clinics are selected through a collaborative approach • Relevant organizations and individuals can facilitate and collaborate with the conduction process • These clinics will be conducted both in English and Bengali • All relevant reading materials and documents will be electronically transferred to all the participants. • NIRAPAD wishes to organize at least one Disaster Clinic each month.
Who are the stakeholders and participants? • Practitioners and stakeholder belonging to the field or disaster are the initial target participants. • However students, researchers, media personals and private sector can also participate in the clinic.
What are the topics & discussions? • Disaster and vulnerability through peoples perspective • Climate change and disaster risk • Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction • Transformation of management system and National Disaster risk reduction model • Accountability in Humanitarian Interventions • Women leadership in Disaster Risk Management
What is the process of documentation and sharing? • A report on each clinic will be generated and circulated by NIRAPAD.
