About Kauai • Kauai is often referred to as the “Garden Isle” • Capital is Lihue (Southeast) • Fourth largest Hawaiian island • Oldest northernmost island in Hawaii • Emerald valleys, jagged mountains, tropical rainforests cascading waterfalls • Many portions only accessible by sea or air • Population of 63 thousandtotaling 550 sq. feet • Main languages Hawaiian and English • Laid back atmosphere and culture
