Did a lot of introductory reading • Chapters 4, 8 and 9 from Fowler • Chapters 1-9 from Brown and Musset • Knew my area of research, but did not know the field. • Need to summarize the “big picture” and have that flow into the specific research on Wadsleyite. • Need to began literature review to include in introduction. Thesis Research/Writing

  5. Tried to do an overall review • Selected “important chapters” ~38 all together • Read chapter, take notes, work out examples and old homework’s completely • Did a math review of ODE’s and PDE’s, and Power Series • Both took too much time =>Needed a change in strategy • Go to old exams => Do as many problems as possible from now to exam • Get better and more confident in problem solving Studying for the Qualifying Exam
