Samuel Riddle purchased 500 acre farm in 1917 for $17,000 named it for his home town Glen Riddle, PA which in turn had been named for his grandfather 1919 installed electricity plant Horses owned started out for show Built a regulation size racetrack but also had smaller tracks throughout the farm Training ground for 2 legendary horses Country Manor (15 rooms, 8 bathrooms)- held high society parties History Back

Man O’ War • Born March 29, 1917 • Mrs. Belmont originally named the horse My Man of War because her husband was away at war. • Sold to Samuel Riddle 1919 for $5,000 • Nicknamed Big Red • 20 wins out of 21 races (the horse he lost to was named Upset) • Sired over 400 foals and over 200 became champions • Voted Horse of the Twentieth Century by the Associated Press in 2000 • set 8 records, 3 world records, • 2 American records, and • 3 track records and broke most by several seconds Back
