  1. Radioactivity Radioactive materials present. Handle only in designated areas with proper protective clothing.

  2. Open flame Before you work with fire, tie back loose hair and clothing. Follow instructions from your teacher about lighting and extinguishing flames

  3. Breakage • Handle breakable materials, such as glassware, with care. Do not touch broken glassware.

  4. Corrosive Chemical • Avoid getting acid or other corrosive chemicals on your skin or clothing or in your eyes..

  5. Fume Work in a ventilated areas when harmful vapors may be involved. Only test an odor when directed to do so by your teacher, WAFT to direct vapors towards your nose.

  6. Disposal Dispose of wastes and other laboratory materials safely. Never pour chemicals directly down the drain. Use proper containers.

  7. Biohazardous Experiments involving materials such as BACTERIA, Fungi, or blood which are all considered biohazardous materials

  8. Flammable Make sure no fire, flames or exposed heat sources are present.

  9. Poison/Toxic Do not let any TOXIC poisonous chemicial come in contact with your skin. Do not inhale as vapors. Wash your hands.

  10. Eye Safety Wear safety goggles to protect your eyes for any activity involving chemicals, flames or heating or glassware

  11. Clothing Protection Wear a laboratory apron to protect your skin and clothing from damage

  12. Sharp objects Scissors, scalpels, knives, needles, pins, and tacks can cut your skin. Always direct a sharp edge or point away from yourself and others
