Choose a natural fabric such as cotton or bamboo for your next shower curtain or liner. You know that familiar smell when you open the package and unfold a new vinyl shower curtain? That’s the off-gassing of chemicals from polyvinyl chloride plastic (PVC). One of the chemical additives, DEHP, is a suspected carcinogen and has been linked to hormonal disruption in humans. An EPA study shows that vinyl curtains can elevate air toxins in your home for more than a month. REMEMBER… IF YOU HAVE AN AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY OR AN URGENT SITUATION, PLEASE CALL: 203-984-6097
I Hear Music… If you were surprised to hear singing from the lobby on Friday February 13, 2009, you weren’t the only one. Q Products CEO, Jonathan Soares received a singing telegram from his “special one” for Valentine’s Day. The musical quartet presented Jonathan with a card and red rose, then proceeded to sing “Love Me Tender” and “Goodbye My Coney Island Baby”. PES wants to remind all clients to double check those office clocks, as daylight savings time began on Sunday, March 8 at 3:00AM. Don’t forget to “spring ahead”. Out and About… Friday the 13th Facts If you fear Friday the 13th, then batten down the hatches. This month marks the 2nd of 3 Friday the 13ths this year. This triple whammy strikes only every 11 years. 1. The British Navy built a ship called Friday the 13th. It left the dock on its maiden voyage on Friday the 13th and was never heard from again. 2. Fear of Friday the 13th is called parakavedekratriaphobia. 3. Butch Cassidy, the notorious American train and bank robber was born on Friday the 13th. 4. FDR would not travel on Friday the 13th and would never host 13 guests at a meal. 5. Napoleon and Herbert Hoover were triskaidekaphobic. They had an abnormal fear of the number 13. 6. The seals on the back of a dollar bill include: 13 steps on the pyramid, 13 stars above the eagle’s head, 13 arrows in the eagle’s claw and 13 leaves on the olive branch. So far there’s been no evidence tying these long ago design decisions to the current economic situation.
