Creating A Plan For Your Presentation 1. Set Objectives ~set a goal and create a list of objectives that help you to reach that goal 2. Understanding Your Audience ~Know your audience -Who are you presenting to?? -Masculine / Feminine pronouns -Assume audience is as intelligent as you are: RESPECT 3. Organizing Main Ideas & Supporting Materials ~create a presentation that conveys your ideas in a clear & clever way
How to Build the Presentation 1. Introduction ~there must be a start to your presentation ~6 ways to start a presentation **poor presentation = poor introduction 2. Body **transitions, transitions, transitions 3. Conclusion ~you must have an actual “end” to your presentation **Your presentation elements are almost exactly the same as your writing elements!
Appearance of the Slides ~You never get a second chance to make a first impression! -spelling, grammar, color, etc. ~Keep it simple! (applies to technical/artistic visuals) -no paragraphs -overwhelming animation -font size should be able to be read at the back of the room ~Graphics / Pictures are key!!! -clear, appropriate & visually appealing
