  5. Creating A Plan For Your Presentation 1. Set Objectives ~set a goal and create a list of objectives that help you to reach that goal 2. Understanding Your Audience ~Know your audience -Who are you presenting to?? -Masculine / Feminine pronouns -Assume audience is as intelligent as you are: RESPECT 3. Organizing Main Ideas & Supporting Materials ~create a presentation that conveys your ideas in a clear & clever way

  6. How to Build the Presentation 1. Introduction ~there must be a start to your presentation ~6 ways to start a presentation **poor presentation = poor introduction 2. Body **transitions, transitions, transitions 3. Conclusion ~you must have an actual “end” to your presentation **Your presentation elements are almost exactly the same as your writing elements!

  7. Appearance of the Slides ~You never get a second chance to make a first impression! -spelling, grammar, color, etc. ~Keep it simple! (applies to technical/artistic visuals) -no paragraphs -overwhelming animation -font size should be able to be read at the back of the room ~Graphics / Pictures are key!!! -clear, appropriate & visually appealing

  11. 1. Verbal Presentation: a. group is organized, takes turns speaking, uses transitions between speakers, shows knowledge of presentation materials b. speakers are clear and easy to understand 2. Slides / Visual Presentation a. material on slides is neat, easy to read & appealing to audience b. the presentation not only address all elements of the assignment, but was customized to show extra effort 3. Presentation Materials a. all supplemental materials are neat and organzied

  12. Summary ~An effective presentation includes: 1. A Strong Introduction 2. A Good Body -good flow, uses transitions -strong visuals -appealing slides 3. A Strong Conclusion
