A Quick Note … When you are writing about a novel, always write about it in the present tense. You may have read the book in the past, but the action is always ongoing in the book.
Quotes It is okay to use a quote that is not from the book as your attention getter. You should NOT be using outside quotes to support your topics and points. You should ALWAYS use ONLY quotes from the book to emphasize your point. *Remember, the goal of an essay is to get your reader to see what you see in the text. AND! Whenever you use a quote, you need to cite it. Otherwise, it is plagiarism!
