Sector Processor Simulation Status Bobby Scurlock University of Florida March 2002
Outline • Limitations with Current CLCT Pattern Numbers. • Improvements to Pt resolution. • Future improvements.
Basic Design of SP Logic BXA: Allows SP to analyze track segments received out of time. EU: Test consistency of 2 track segments to share track. TAU: Links successfully extrapolated segments. FSU: Selects best 3 tracks, cancels redundant tracks. AU: Assigns Pt value and uncertainty.
Extrapolation Type: MB1-ME2 fbend given by DT 0.9 < h < 1.2 Tuning Df[h, fb] LUTs We will use correlation between Df and fbend to find allowed range for Df in a given h and fbend bin This will also allow us to further untangle low Pt from high Pt tracks.

These patterns are defined for both half and di-strip track segments corresponding to high and low momentum tracks Patterns 1 and 2 are very similar. They do not give enough bend information. Strip 1 -3 -2 -1 0 2 3 CLCT Pattern Number
fbend 0< Pt<10 10<Pt<25 25<Pt<50 50<Pt<100 Df 0.9 < h < 2.4 Tuning Df[h, fb] LUTs Need more half strip fbend patterns from CSCs. With the current Trigger design, we do not have enough information to establish cuts or to discriminate low from high Pt tracks. Extrapolation Type: ME1-ME2 fbend given by CSCs • Placing fbend cutting on fbend = ±2: • Brings trigger efficiency down to 95% • Rate only reduces by 50% for Pt<7 J. Mumford has written a set of instructions for changing the CLCT pattern numbers. So, we hope to create more patterns soon!
DT CSC Need a reduction in rate in the overlapregion. Improving PT resolution will help. Current Trigger Rate from GMT Hannes Sakulin, PRS/Muon Meeting, 9/11/2001
s=35% Current State of PT Resolution Residual Plot in Overlap Region from current ORCA simulation Entries Resolution = width of the Residual distribution
Improving PT Resolution We are currently fitting |Df| to: fb from DT is rescaled from [-511, 511] range to [0,31]. h has [0,63] range over 0.9-2.4 h-units And, So, fb=15 is a straight patter, usually from high PT muons. AU receives |Df|, then reports PT |Df| |Df| fb=12 (left bending), h=9 fb=15 (straight) , h=9 f3P[12,9] f3P[15,9] Ex. |Df|=25 gives PT = 5.5 GeV PT PT
Improving PT Resolution |Df| fb=15, h=9 Extrapolation Type: MB1-ME2 fbend given by DT f3P f2P PT |Df| fb=12, h=9 f3P f2P From 25k 1m events 0.9 < h < 1.2 PT
Improving PT Resolution Mean Residual vs. |Df| in Overlap Region f3P f2P f3P f2P |Df|
Results from new Fits Residual Plot in Overlap Region using new fit method s=24.7% So, we have a 10% improvement over current SW model. Also, using a 2 function approach gives a 2% improvement over a single function.
Conclusions • What’s been done in ORCA 6? • New Df[h, fb] cuts installed for ME1 and MB1 Extrapolations • Soon to come: • Modify PT assignment in ORCA using new scheme. • Develop new CLCT pattern scheme. • Use the same approach as used in EU type 2-5 to generate Df[h, fb] cuts and improve PT resolution for other extrapolation types. • Include SP Bunch crossing analyzer in ORCA – improve efficiency [Long Term]
