Elisha obviously understood Elijah’s call to disciple him. Elisha responded happily but asked permission to say goodbye to his parents before leaving to follow Elijah.

Elisha, such a powerful man of God; he healed otherwise incurable people, even raising one from the dead; nevertheless, he died a sick man.
