Balkans Project • 5 Countries • Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, the fYR of Macedonia • Financed by the Netherlands • Goal • Implement and ratify the HM Protocol, POPs Protocol and Gothenburg Protocol
Balkans Project • Current status: • Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia • NAPs completion and entering implementation phase • Albania • Consultation meeting in Tirana on 22-23 April 2010 to kick off elaboration phase • Bosnia & Herzegovina • Developing MoU and ToR for first phase • Mr. Milorad Bijelic (Serbia) will provide details
Balkans Project • Secretariat’s role • 4 Consultation meetings • Belgrade (Kick-off), Skopje (Consultation 1), Podgorica (Consultation 2), Tirana (Kick-off for Albania) • Review NAPs alongside experts • Coordinate expert participation • Focal point for questions/concerns • Liaise with officials
Balkans Project • Secretariat’s Role • Develop Terms of Reference and Memorandums of Understanding • Prepare progress reports for donor country and UNECE • Administer and review grants, financial reports, expenditures, and invoices
