GEO-EGIDA Workshop, Bonn, Germany – May, 9-11, 2011 Promoting Awareness and Benefits of GEOEGIDA – WP3
Goal • EGIDA aims to create incentives and promote GEO in S&T Communities by providing direct support to the GEOSS S&T Roadmap and the relevant activities of GEO Task ST-09-02
Outline • Data citation • Geo-label • Show GEOSS at Work • Interface with S&T Communities • Enhance Registration
GEOSS Data Citation Guidelines • Draft GEOSS Citation Guidelines V1.0 provided to STC • Based on IPY and ESIP rules • EGIDA working on V2.0, together with ST-09-02 • Traceability (DOI), versioning, etc.
Geo - Label • EGIDA working together with ST-09-02 • EGIDA also coordinating with GeoViQua, and Aston team • EGIDA drafting a review of existing “labels” – ready by summer
Show GEOSS at work • National Use Cases Workshop, ISPRA, Rome, 18-19 April 2011 • Compelling examples • NicoBonora
Enhance registration of datasets • Currently stalled/ad-hoc process • Link with the GEO Data Sharing Task Force (DSTF) activities? • EuroGEOSS and BalkanGEONet • Need to establish methodology • Incentives are key (make visible) • Support owners with tutorials
Interface with S&T communities • Currently stalled (perhaps more an issue of communication than real problem) • D.3.3. Master plan for scientific sessions focusing on the GEOSS to S&T relationship – living document created • Need to establish methodology
Summary • EGIDA well placed within GEO network – linkages to BalkanGEONet, GeoViQua and others • Delivered initial findings – i.e. ver 1.0 Data citation guidelines, master plan for scientific sessions • Will now focus on stalled activities and incentives
