Introduction • Available reformatting tools: • MEDATLAS to ODV (vertical profiles): -> Medatlas2ODV.bat: filename.txt -> filename_txt.txt • MEDATLAS to NETCDF (vertical profiles): -> Medatlas2Netcdf.bat: filename.txt -> filename.nc • MEDATLAS to NETCDF (thermistor time series): -> T_Medatlas2OCeanSites.bat : filename.txt -> filename.nc • MEDATLAS to NETCDF (currentmeter time series): -> D_Medatlas2OCeanSites.bat: filename.txt -> filename.nc • Objectives of the reformatting exercises : • To discover different formats : MEDATLAS, ODV, NETCDF. • To compare these formats.

Reformatting tools • Reformatting tools on Windows Execute 'bin/[file].bat', by double-clicking [file] = Medatlas2Odv, Medatlas2Netcdf, D_Medatlas2OceanSites, T_Medatlas2OceanSites • Usage These tools need two directories: • input directory which must contain only data files at the MEDATLAS format. • output directory which will containthe converted files • A read_me.txt file is provided with the reformatting tools

Reformatting exercises • Copy the ‘Refomatting’ directory on your PC • Create the input and output directories if necessary • You have your own MEDATLAS files with you • Yes: Try to convert them • No: Use the IFREMER data benchmarks (‘IFREMER_data’) • Run the adapted tools: • For vertical profiles: Medatalas2ODV, Medatlas2Netcdf • For thermistor time series: T_Medatlas2OceanSites • For currentmeter time series: D_Medatlas2OceanSites • Compare the input and output files
