  1. The ROSARY The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". The Rosary is a prayer of hope. Our Lady has revealed to several people – Saint Dominic, Saint Bernadette at Lourdes and the three children at Fatima : Lucy, Jacinta and Francisco – that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses.

  2. Legend says that the rosary owes its origin to St Dominic. Dominic received a vision from Our Lady who showed him a wreath of roses, representing the rosary. She told him to say the rosary daily, teach it to all who would listen and eventually the true faith would win out. Dominic was one of the first people to begin to pray the rosary. He spread devotion to it and used it to strengthen his spiritual life. St Dominic - Feast day: August 8th

  4. The Mission Rosary While meditating on each decade, represented by a distinct colour, the peoples of a particular continent are brought to prayer. Europe Asia Americas Africa Oceania

  5. As we pray the Mission Rosary, our intentions are directed for the people of that continent, especially our missionaries working there.

  6. AFRICA First Mission Mystery : Jesus Saviour of the World “Yes, God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not be lost but may have eternal life.” [John 3:16]

  7. AMERICAS Second Mission Mystery : Jesus proclaims the Good News to all “The Spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for He has anointed me. He has sent me to bring the good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim the Lord’s year of favour”. [Luke 4:18-19]

EUROPE Third Mission Mystery : Jesus teaches us how to pray So you should pray like this,“Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive those who are in debt to us. And do not put us to the test, but save us from the evil one.”(Matthew 6:7-15)

  9. OCEANIA Fourth Mission Mystery : Jesus offers the gift of life ‘...When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” She said, “What? You are a Jew and you ask me, a Samaritan, for a drink?” Jesus replied; “If only you knew what God is offering and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink’, you would have been the one to ask, and he would have given you living water... Whoever drinks this water will get thirsty again. But anyone who drinks the water that I shall give will never be thirsty again.”... “Sir”, the woman replied, “Give me some of that water so that I may never get thirsty.” ’ (John. 4:1-26)

  10. ASIA Fifth Mission Mystery : Jesus teaches us how to live Seeing the crowds, he went up the hill. There he sat down and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to speak. This is what he taught them: “How happy are the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Happy the gentle, they shall have the earth for their heritage. Happy those who mourn, they shall be comforted. Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right, they shall be satisfied. Happy the merciful, they shall have mercy shown them. Happy the pure in heart, they shall see god. Happy the peacemakers, they shall be called sons of God. Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right, theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”(Matthew 5:1-12)
