What is the Clean Energy Fund? • The Clean EnergyFund(CEF) isa student green fund, sustained by a self-imposedstudentfee of $10 per student per semester. • The CEF isdesigned to advancerenewableenergy: • Research • Education, and • Infrastructure on campus. • Fundgenerates $225,000 per year.
2005: Idea for Clean Energy Fund developed in Environmental Management course by students. Campaign for CEF began. 2007: SGAendorsed the proposal for the CEF, after a survey showed that students would be willing to pay a $10 fee to support renewable energy projects & education on campus. 2008: UVM Board of Trustees approves the creation of the CEF. 2008-2009: First year fee was collected.
Path to Climate Neutrality by 2025 Targets for climate neutrality: 2015: Electricitythroughcertified renewable energy or offsets 2020: Heating, Cooling & Fleetnet emissions reduced to zero through efficiency, cleaner fuels and market mechanisms 2025: Remaindercarbon offsets for all remaining emissions by 2025. (MTCDE)
