Nature of the CDM rosters of experts • Paragraph 18 of the modalities and procedures (Dec.17/CP.7): • The Executive Board may establish committees, panels or working groups to assist it in the performance of its functions. • The Executive Board shall draw on the expertise necessary to perform its functions, including from the UNFCCC roster of experts. In this context, it shall take fully into account the consideration of regional balance.

  4. CDM roster(s) of experts • Experts of the CDM rosters assist the two panels of the Executive Board (CDM-AP & CDM-Meth Panel) • The Executive Board has established two rosters of experts: • Roster of experts for accreditation (decision taken at EB03) • to undertake assessment work for the CDM-AP • Roster of experts for methodologies (decision taken at EB04) • to undertake desk reviews of proposed new methodologies for the CDM-Meth Panel

  6. Characteristics of the CDM rosters of experts • No nomination by Parties • Individual application, “everybody can apply” • Competence criteria for each of the rosters • Online application through the UNFCCC CDM web site

  7. The selection of experts • Selection is made by the respective Panel (CDM-AP and CDM-Meth), not by the UNFCCC secretariat. • Maintenance by the UNFCCC secretariat.

  8. Current status of the rosters of experts • Roster of experts to undertake desk reviews of proposed new methodologies • 59 experts • Roster of experts to undertake assessment work for accreditation • 45 experts
