National Managed Clinical Network • Concept first set out in the report of the Acute Services Review (June 1998) Defined as: “Linked groups of Health Professionals and organisations from primary, secondary, and tertiary care, working in a coordinated manner, unconstrained by existing professional and Health Board boundaries, to ensure equitable provision of high quality clinically effective services throughout Scotland”

  4. (National Managed Clinical Network) • Comprehensive application process to NSAG. (submitted November 2005) - clinical arguments in support of network - data to support case - network description - teaching and research - arrangements for patient/carer input - costs and cost effectiveness

National Managed Clinical Network) • Final approval by National Services Division(Jan.2007) – approved by Chief Executives of all 14 Health Boards in Scotland (including financial support) • Approval by Health Minister • Network ”Live” April 2007 • Lead Clinician and Project Manager appointed • Steering group/subgroup leads/membership/objectives agreed

C.O.B.I.S.(Care of Burns in Scotland) • Vision statement: “ To ensure that patients who suffer from Burn Injury, wherever that may occur in Scotland, receive optimal treatment in a timely manner at a centre appropriate for the injury sustained and that the treatment, care and support given to patients and their families, is consistent with the highest standards as measured by regular review and audit across Scotland”
