Objectives • To define the ASSURE model • To learn the components of the ASSURE Model • To understand how the model can be utilized in lesson planning.
ASSURE MODEL • This model aims to integrate media and technology in lesson planning, while keeping the learners needs in mind. It is made up of six steps that can be followed while conducting a lesson.
Components of ASSURE model • The six steps of the ASSURE model are: • A- Analyze Learners • S- State Objectives • S- Select Methods, Media, and Materials • U- Utilize Media and Materials • R- Require Learner Participation • E- Evaluate and Revise
ASSURE MODEL • 1. The first step is A- Analyze Learners. Consider the students learning styles, their level of competency among other basic characteristics. • 2. S -State objectives- learners need to know what they should learn and take home from your lesson. • 3. S- Select methods, media, and materials- see what existing materials are available, modify or tweak them for use in this lesson, utilize new materials.
ASSURE MODEL • 4. U- Utilize media and materials- create a lesson utilizing the materials. Create an ideal working environment. • 5. R- Require learner participation- use interactive activities • 6. E- Evaluate and revise- Self assess your lesson. Was it effective? Were the learning outcomes successful?
