This application can be utilized through sites such as Google research, EBSCO, Pro Quest, and College Source Online. These services allow students access to information on a variety of topics.
2. Communication MobileLearn The 2nd best use of the internet for teaching and learning is for communication. Communication between instructors and students is essential. The internet provides a number of ways students can communicate with each other, instructors can communicate with students, and students can communicate with instructors. This can be done through discussion boards, emails, Wimba Classrooms, and instant messaging systems. Networking allows instructors to share links and information with students, as well as, provides students with a network to share information among each other. These type of applications include internet sites like Facebook and Twitter.
7. E-Learning The 7th best use of the internet for teaching and learning is Distance Education/Online Learning known as E-Learning. Today students are engaging in more computer and web-based learning which can be self paced or instructor paced. Some examples of this include eTroy, The University of Phoenix, and Kaplan University.
8. Visual Learning The 8th best use of the internet for teaching and learning is Visual Learning. The use of video, pod casts, and slideshows are essential to show students how to perform or explain things. The most popular sites on the internet for this are You Tube, Odeo, iTunes, and Vimeo. These sites provide an array of videos to cater to the different learning styles. Some students learn well by reading but a number of students learn better by hearing an explanation, or seeing a demonstration, and by doing. You Tube utilizes visual learning by providing instructional videos of current or previous events, demonstrations, and lectures. iTunes U- site that is available on the Mac, PC, iPhone or iPod that allows instructors to distribute digital content or information to students and other faculty. iTunes U is accessible for all students-allows accessible learning for vision impaired students.
