M&I Leadership & Training • Revised evidence-based national home visiting curriculum (Partners for a Healthy Baby) and led implementation in all nurse home visiting programs • Led training for all nurse home visiting programs in the city • Piloting postpartum home visits by nursing students across the city • Revised and streamlined citywide home visiting services and triage criteria
Innovative Client Interventions • Conducted pilot citywide Weight Watchers intervention • Total weight loss over 2 months = >400 lbs. • Awarded $100,000 planning grant from DHHS Office of Women’s Health • Introduced smoking cessation training for citywide programs • Distributed 500 cribs over FY10 and managed citywide crib distribution program
Key Results • Made 3129 successful home visits (Jan to Oct 2010) • On average, 59% of M&I clients who smoke have reduced the number of cigarettes smoked per day (Jan to Oct 2010) • On average, 68% of M&I Infants have a safe sleep environment as observed by case managers (Apr to Oct 2010). • On average, 21% of M&I mothers breastfeed, exclusively, infants 0-4 months old (Jan to Oct 2010) • 7% of M&I women got pregnant again within 18 months of giving birth (9 of 245 Jan to Oct 2010)
