  9. Ethics / Integrity Policy • As an employee of SCE, you represent the company to the community in all that you do. • That reflects on all of us and on you as an individual.

  10. Standards of Performance and Conduct Packet • Each student received a packet • Requires both Supervisor and Employee signature • It is the responsibility of each employee to read and understand the policies set forth

  11. SPDP Training Standards • While in training, you are expected to commit to participate and learn to your fullest ability. • Training starts in the classroom, and ends with on-the-job modules.

Expectations of SPDP Trainees • Attend training and be on time • Complete all assignments • Complete all OJT assignments • Pass assessments, quizzes, and step tests • Participate in class • Keep your Supervisor updated on your progress • Do your best and have fun • Commit to SCE Values • You represent SCE in the community, hotel, restaurants, etc.

Attendance • Must meet PWRD/Design Standards for Attendance • Exemplary (E): <16 hours of accountable approved or unapproved time off • Commendable (C): <40 hours of accountable approved or unapproved time off • Needs Improvement (NI): >40 hours of accountable approved or unapproved time off • Disciplinary Guidelines • Failure to meet attendance standards could result in disciplinary action, including a verbal warning, letter to file, removal from the training program, and/or termination.

  16. Punctuality • Must meet PWRD/Design Standards for Punctuality • Call-in procedures formally defined • Disciplinary guidelines for tardiness • Exemplary (E):< 2 occasions of late arrival or tardiness returning from a break • Commendable (C): 3 - 6 occasions of late arrival or tardiness returning from a break • Needs Improvement (NI): > 6 occasions of late arrival or tardiness returning from a break

  17. Participation / Teamwork • Scale of 1-7 • Exemplary (E): Average score 6-7 • Commendable (C): Average score 3-5 • Needs Improvement (NI):Average >2

Cooperation / Attentiveness • Must cooperate and remain attentive in class. • Follow procedures/instructions, be alert, and treat instructors and co-workers with respect. • Unsatisfactory behavior would include: • E-mailing or using “Instant Messenger” programs during class • Doodling or falling asleep in class • Answering phone calls during class • Open disregard for instructions • Acting in an unprofessional or offensive manner

Self-StudyRequirements • Must complete self-study courses • Step 1 and Step 2 Self Studies • Basic Electricity Section of Service Planner Correspondence Course • Transformer and Metering Manual • PDP • Exemplary (E): Minimum average score 90% • Commendable (C): Average score 80-89% • Needs Improvement (NI): Average score <80%

  26. Written Assessments 80% will be minimum passing grade Performance Assessments 70% will be minimum passing grade Pass or Fail

  28. No vacations are granted during testing periods Testing period = 4 week time frame from first test date Vacation

  29. RE-TEST WRITTEN RE-TESTPERFORMANCE

  30. OJT • After 9-month classroom training, you’ll report to work location to complete OJT. • Field Supervisor completes Planner 1 field evaluation checklist on assigned trainees. • 3-month formal OJT period. • Must successfully complete all check-offs in order to graduate from the training program and receive final step increase. • Any check-off deficiencies addressed through PDP and performance feedback.

  31. Feedback Meetings • Scheduled mid-step and end-of-step • Facilitates transition between training and the job. • Review performance and formally communicate expectations for improvement. • Those who maintain a satisfactory level of performance across all dimensions will be eligible for an end-of-step increase. Step 3 increase will be granted upon completion of formal OJT period. • Those who are consistent in not meeting expectations could face disciplinary action, including having the step increase withheld.

  32. Trainer / Instructor Role • Provides instruction • Maintains control of the classroom • Monitors daily performance and communicates with Supervisor • Provides final “report card” for trainees when they are released to the field for OJT • Remain available for student and Supervisor support during OJT.

  33. Supervisor Role • Participate in meetings with SPDP participants in class at mid-step and end-of-step. • Respond to training’s request for action/support between meetings. • Monitor and document OJT performance. • Make the final decision regarding graduation from training.

  34. Graduating SPDP Requirements • Pass the Written and Performance tests for each Step • Complete all assignments on time • Participate in class • Maintain a satisfactory PDP rating • Pass OJT • 18 month residency begins at graduation
