LIFE • Alba was born in Pomona, California[1] to Catherine Alba (née Jensen) and Mark Alba. Her mother is of Danish and French Canadian descent and her father is Mexican American, though both of his parents were born in California[10][11] (on the December 1, 2009 episode of Lopez Tonight, George Lopez announced that a DNA test showed Alba to be 87% European and 13% Indigenous American).[12] She has a younger brother, Joshua. Her father's Air Force career took the family to Biloxi, Mississippi, and Del Rio, Texas before settling back in California when she was nine years old.[3][11] Alba described her family as being a "very conservative family—a traditional, Catholic, Latin American family" and herself as very liberal; she says she had identified herself as a "feminist" as early as age five.[13]

THE OFFICE • The Office is an American comedy television series that broadcasts on NBC. An adaptation of the BBC series The Office, the series depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. To simulate the look of an actual documentary, it is filmed in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track. The presence of the camera is often explicitly acknowledged by the characters. • The Office was adapted for American audiences by executive producer Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill and The Simpsons. The creators of the original BBC series, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, have production credits, and also co-wrote the very first episode anear Scranton, such as the Mall at Steamtown, and Lake Wallenpaupack. Dwight's "Froggy 101" bumper sticker is from local country station WGGY. Also, the actual Anthracite Museum in Scranton is referenced in Michael Scott's video presentation to David Wallace in another episode. In another episode, Jan is seen with a water bottle with the label "Joe's Kwik Mart", which is a local chain of gas stations. "We went toward embracing the whole Scranton-ness of the setting," said Daniels.[24] Despite this, some Los Angeles references are still visible; for example, in the episode "Fun Run", a sign can be seen with a phone number bearing area code 818, which is not used in Scranton but is the primary area code in the San Fernando Valley, which lies almost entirely within the city of Los Angeles. The building they shoot in is at 13928 Saticoy Street, Los Angeles, California. The set's Los Angeles location is most apparent during outdoors scenes in which LA-area mountains (much larger than the more modest hills near Scranton) are frequently seen in the background of the office park. • A flier in the episode "Blood Drive" places the Dunder Mifflin office park at 1725 Slough Avenue, a reference to the British version of the show. • A framed lithograph of Erie Lackawanna Railroad Diner #741 appears on the wall of Jim's new office in the episode "The Promotion". This car is being restored by the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society, and will be based out of Scranton. This lithograph is also sold by the society as a fundraiser. • nd the season three episode, "The Convict".[1] It is co-produced by Daniels's Deedle-Dee Productions, and Reveille Productions, in association with NBC Universal Television Studios. The show debuted on NBC as a midseason replacement on March 24, 2005, replacing the situation comedy Committed.[2]
