Russia: Improving GTSRP • Restoration of tiger population from 30-40 animals in 1940s to 450-500 tigers in 2005 • Establishment of PAs’ network Priority Indicators: - increasing quantity and quality of tiger population Secondary indicators: - NPA area, sq km - NPA created, % - number of people targeted through awareness campaigns

  3. Russia: Three Key Good Practices • Compensation for the damage to local communities • Compensation to hunting leases within tiger range • Compensation to logging companies to cancel lease contracts in core tiger habitats

  4. Russia: NASP Preparation • NAFS should be prepared by national Experts and presented to GTI
