Scuba Diving Costa Rica – One of the most beautiful spots on the Earth If you think that the fascinating biodiversity of Costa Rica reaches its coastal lines, wait to immerse yourself in the aquatic world. Nestled between two oceans, Costa Rica is a diving destination, especially along the Pacific coast, where the crystal clear waters are home to a wide variety of marine life. Many experienced travelers who come on Costa Rica vacations, consider it one of the most beautiful countries in the world: Costa Rica, located in Central America between Nicaragua and Panama. Hammerhead schools, Mobulas, huge schools of fish and a variety of species that takes your breath away: Even the diving playa flamingo experience leaves nothing to be desired. The dive center Tamarindo is of varying quality, travelers should inform themselves in advance before booking on the Internet or at the tour operators. Climate and travel times: The weather in Costa Rica is characterized by two different seasons. In the highlands and on the Pacific coast there is dry season from November to April, the rainy season runs from May to October. However, it usually rains only in the afternoon but then in abundant showers. The Caribbean coast has an equatorial climate with rainfall throughout the year, with February and March and September and October being drier. The temperatures are 30o C on the coast and 23o C in the highlands. Shark diving Flamingo from the mainland of Costa Rica is possible all year round. The best time is here from December to May. Diving in Costa Rica: The longest uninhabited island in the world is also one of the best diving spots in Costa Rica. Coco Island is the furthest from the Costa Rican territory, located 330 miles southwest of the Nicoya Peninsula. In 1978, the fabled island of Coco was set under conservation and the search for hidden pirate treasures was discontinued. Most dives take place on small rocks and islands offshore. At these places, there are cleaning stations, which are regularly visited by hammerhead schools. In addition to this highlight, there are also large schools of fish of spiny mackerel and barracudas. Silk sharks, Galapagos sharks, silvertip sharks, manta rays, whale sharks, sailfish, dolphins, and whales can often be spotted. With a bit of luck, you can even see a tiger shark. Our opinion: The dive sites in Costa Rica cannot compete with the colorful splendor of the Indo-Pacific, but there is plenty of fish. Above all, Cocos Island offers world-class dives in relation to big fish.
