Process of Winemaking As amazing as the wine tastes, equally interesting is the process of wine making. The science of winemaking is known as Oenology, and a winemaker is known as a Vintner. Winemaking is of two basic types:
Still Wine Production- This does not involve carbonation and the wine thus produced is practically free of any contents of carbon. Sparkling Wine Production- This kind of wine is produced with carbonation, using injections or natural processes.
The process of wine making comprises of a series of steps. The first one is harvesting. The grapes can either be picked mechanically or by hand, depending on the area of the vineyard and duration of time available for plucking the grapes.
After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and are taken for primary fermentation. The stems are separated from the berries, which are then gently pressed to remove the extract from inside the peel of the grapes. The process of primary fermentation is carried out by using cultured yeast.
The product thus obtained undergoes pressing that separates the wine from the grape skin and whatever extracts are remaining. During the entire process, tartrate crystals are produced in the wine that may appear as sand crystals.
And thus the process of cold stabilization is carried out to remove these from the wine. Slow process of secondary fermentation and ageing is made before the final step of blending and fining.

But the diverse climate and extreme summers add to the quality of the grapes grown and hence produce a delectable wine.
