  2. The scene of a car accident can be one of the most confusing scenarios to navigate. Beyond being emotional shook-up and sometimes in a state of shock, all parties are not always cooperative or peaceful at the scene.

  3. With so much happening and distractions from ongoing traffic, it’s important to understand what MUST occur in those critical moments and what mistakes are commonly made, leading to a more complicated case.

  4. Keep this handy list in your glove compartment, with you insurance, in the event you find yourself in this situation in Colorado and beyond:

  5. Steps to Take After an Accident: 1. Stop as soon as it’s safe and make sure you and your passengers are away from ongoing traffic. 2. Call the police. 3. Be careful about what you say. Statements you make at the scene, or verbal deals you discuss with the other driver, can be used against you later.

  6. 4. Take pictures of the accident scene and vehicles, including license plates. 5. Take a photo of all insurance cards. 6. Get the names and telephone numbers of all witnesses.
