14. High-temperature behaviour From M(H) curves it becomes evident that iron is present in the form of magnetite: the ZFC curves display the Vervey transition at 118K. For bulk magnetite, saturation magnetization is 92 emu/g, being lower for nanopatricles[i], e.g 68 emu/g for 12.5 nm nanoparticles[ii] or 40 60 emu/g for 3-7 nm particles[iii]. Thus, the parasitic signal corresponds to 80 250 ppm of iron, whereas the measured amount is 273 ppm.
