Until April 2005, I was the Chief Executive of Harmeny Education Trust Limited , a children and young peoples charity with a £3.7m turnover. I was fully responsible for a workforce of over 120 employees. HETL is now well respected in its specialist work verified by HMIe and Care Commission reports and external Local Authority and Scottish Executive led ‘Best Value’ reports. As an employer in a specialist field of Care and Education,it is subject to the various company and charity legislation. I have been responsible for the development and funding of two major capital projects in the last 8 years and have spearheaded the fundraising effort. I have Fundraised for Harmeny (c. £4m), and for a Scottish Motor Neurone Disease Association project. 2003 (£45k). In 2003 I decided that it was time to make plans for the future and with the Boards blessing gave a years notice period for the organisation to plan for the future. I am currently General Secretary of the Social Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties Association (SEBDA) 1999-present I have represented both Harmeny and SEBDA to Parliamentary sub committees in the Scottish Parliament, and to various organisations and groupings across the UK. I play guitar in a traditional jazz band and sail my Norfolk Oyster when I get time. Hello, I’m Dot Webb and I run the earlywormsolutions Specific Learning Difficulties / Dyslexia Service. During my career as Teacher, Headteacher, and Learning Support Adviser, I have always managed to be adaptable and learn new skills quickly. I have always maintained good working relationships with colleagues, parents and a wide range of professionals. I enjoy being a team member but am also able to lead if required. In Scotland I led a working group to produce a complete Spelling Programme,. This programme is based on work I developed in Edinburgh, which was praised by inspectors and was recommended for the City of Edinburgh Good Practice Record. I am a conscientious, methodical teacher who has always endeavoured to provide structured lessons for my students based on a thorough assessment of individual learning needs. To this end I maintain an awareness of new resources and approaches to support learning, especially the use of IT. I have attended a range of courses, which have included Scotopic Sensitivity, IEP development, Target Setting, Write Outloud, Co Writer, using an Alpha Smart, Differentiation and Adaptation as well as Behaviour Management Strategies (including Attention Deficit Disorder and Autistic Spectrum. Since our family move to Lincolnshire (April 2004) I have followed and passed the Dyslexia Institute Training Programme and I am working with both children and adults .
