Provision of Personal Care Items and a Portable PC for Isolated Patients Authors: Ms. Anita PAI, HM(SS)1 , Ms. Grace NGAN, SS(Hostel), Ms. Pauline YUNG, S(Hostel), Ms. Sally FOK, S(BES & Tele) Department of Supporting Services, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Some patients / foreigners admitted to isolation wards may not have basic personal items on hand for daily need causing inconvenience and anxiety • Background Objective Enhancing patient comfort and releasing anxiety by providing personal care items and a portable personal computer (PC) for isolated patients Implementation (08/09) • Some complementary baskets were prepared for stand by use. Upon request by isolation ward, Quarters Services will arrange delivery to the ward. • Items included in the complimentary basket: • Face Towel 1 pc • Bath Towel 1 pc • Soap 1 pc • Bath Set 1 set • (shampoo, bath cream, lotion) • Shower Cap 1 pc • Tooth Brush / Paste 1 each • Slippers 1 pair • Cup 1 pc • Comb 1 pc • Razor 1 pc • Portable pc is available for isolation patients to facilitate their communication with their families and friends. Complimentary Basket Portable PC Conclusion • Increase patient comfort and satisfaction • Improve patient amenities • Reduce patient anxiety and stress
