CONFUSION He Barely kicked the ball twenty yards.
REPAIR WORK HE KICKED THAT BALL BARELY TWENTY YARDS
When a modifier improperly modifies something, it is called a “dangling modifier.”
CONFUSION • Changing the oil every 3,000 miles, there is an easy way to keep your car running smoothly.
Repair Work • If we change the oil every 3,000 miles, we can keep our car running smoothly.
Comparative/superlative The two basic ways to compare are using …asor than.
Examples • She’s twice as old as her sister. • He’s not as stupid as he looks! • It’s much colder today than it was yesterday. • I find science more difficult than mathematics.
CONCLUSION • When using your modifiers correctly it will make your writing better or easier to understand.=D
