AIRBUS INDUSTRIE • GENESIS • Airbus was established in 1970 as a European consortium of French, German and later, Spanish and U.K companies. • Bring about cooperation among European Aircraft manufacturers and be able to compete effectively with the U.S. giants. • Overcome national divides, share development costs, collaborate in the interests of a greater market share, and even agree to a common set of measurements and a common language. • Airbus changed the face of the business, and brought airlines, passengers and crews the benefits of real competition
AIRBUS INDUSTRIE • THE ENTITIES • The co-operation between the different entities that make up Airbus today goes back to the 1920s. ORGANISATION • A joint stock company operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Airbus France, Airbus Deutschland, Airbus España and Airbus UK • An Executive Committee of ten members, led by Airbus President and Chief Executive Officer Noël Forgeard, and including the heads of each core business function, are responsible for managing all Airbus activities. • It employs directly some 46,000 people of over 50 nationalities.

OPERATIONS • More than 150 sites throughout the world, which includes • 16 development and manufacturing facilities in France, Germany, the U.K. and Spain. • Several subsidiaries, six regional offices, three training centres, five spare centres and 120 resident customer services offices • International network of some 1,500 suppliers in more than 30 countries, including 800 suppliers in the United States • Three main operation hubs • Airbus North America • Airbus Japan • Airbus China
PROCUREMENT • The largest single area of suppliers is the United States. • Over 800 companies produce hardware ranging from engines to window glass. • Host of excellent suppliers from all over Europe and in Asia, Africa and Australia, providing aero structure commodities, materials, equipment systems, propulsion systems as well as company consumables and services or product related services.
