How Students Lead the Learning Experience at Democratic School

The old school educational system that consists of tests, a classroom with 25-60 students, teaching materials, behavior testing requires a lot of time and efforts that are majorly not required by the students. The other disadvantage of such schooling system is that it forces all the students to be tested on a single scale, which is scientifically not effective since different students have different educational requirements as well as they have different interests and skills. Many students and teachers have left their schools based on the tiring and unnecessary efforts within the old school educational system.

  1. How Students Lead the Learning Experience at Democratic school The old school educational system that consists of tests, class room with 25-60 students, teaching materials, behavior testing requires a lot of time and efforts that are majorly not required by the students. The other disadvantage of such schooling system is that it forces all the students to be tested on a single scale, which is scientifically not effective since different students have different educational requirements as well as they have different interests and skills. Many students and teachers have left their schools based on the tiring and unnecessary efforts within the old school educational system. In recent years Sudbury Model Schools, Democratic Schools, and Democratic free Schools have emerged and have gained popularity since they offer services that are in accordance to the needs of the parents and students of the current era. The primary aim of the schooling is to focus on the development of characteristics and traits such as autonomy and agency. Such schools have no grading available, no tests, and also do not assign homework as in old school educational systems. The children/ students are given the leverage and opportunity to gain freedom and oat the same time take the responsibility of their own educational needs. The Free School Grapevine Texas offers the same opportunity to the students and also aims to create a balance between the two sides of the same coin (i.e. responsibility and freedom). In general the Democratic schools do not impose their course schedules, class room measurement tools including tests and homework. The students are allowed an access to the meeting hall, kitchens, library, art rooms, digital arts, computer gaming, and other playing activities. This approach allows the students to shape their own day and to identify the thing or things that attract them most. The grounds available in the schools include the basketball court, playground, forest, water pool, and porches. The ages of students are evenly and fairly distributed but also the senior students are allowed to meet freely with the young ones to share their experiences and to raise interest as well as emotional experiences with the school. The students are provided with the freedom to learn from actually acting

  2. and performing what pleases them the most which enables them to identify their needs and also encourages the staff to come to know their educational needs and wants. Youngsters or children below eight are offered with a more outdoor and discover experience approach which allows them to be more interactive to the nature and also it enables to extend the positive learning. Children gaining education from Free Democratic Schools are more likely to be naturally interactive as they are trained to explore their ways and also to learn from other students and their activities. The discovery learning approach adopted for children allows the staff to provide a more proficient way of learning to the young ones that can enable them to establish a base for their upcoming years of education. Students coming from such experience of learning are more likely to take the right decisions with their broad mindedness, and educational background. It is therefore, customary to state that students from the Free School Grapevine Texas and other Self Directed schools are more aware of their responsibilities and have the charge over their educational experience which strengthens over the period of time. They are more likely to know the difference between the right and wrong in both their educational and daily life.
