ASU/NASA Space Grant Outreach Facilitator

Rebecca Jarnagin served as a facilitator for Space Grant interns, coordinating outreach events, engaging the public, and assisting with the Mars Student Imaging Project (MSIP) at ASU. Supported outreach initiatives at ASU and helped organize resources for classroom visits.

  2. Outreach Facilitator Objectives • Served as a facilitator for Space Grant interns completing outreach hours • Supported outreach events by maintaining booths with educational resources and engaging the public • Assisted with Mars Student Imagining Project (MSIP) at ASU

  3. Facilitator • Coordinated communication between Space Grant office and interns • Organized materials and resources to be used at outreach events or classroom visits

  4. Outreach Events at ASU • Provided STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) based activities training for interns • E.g.: Robotic Arms, Exploring Crustal Material From a Mystery Planet, Solar System Distance Beads, Lego Kits, Soda Straw Rockets • Outreach Events • School of Earth and Space Exploration Day • Homecoming Block Party • Mars Education Regional K-12 Workshops • Sally Ride Science Festival

  7. Mars Student Imaging Project • Assisted with student teams onsite to target an image of Mars • Worked with activities associated with the program • Helped students to complete presentation at the end of the project

  8. Significance of My Research • Engaging the underserved populations in science • Showcasing the research of the interns • Implementation of resources in the high school science classroom • MSIP activities • STEM based lesson plans
