  1. World Cat World wide catalog of libraries in the U.S., Canada, and Europe

  2. Getting Started From University Libraries’ website: • Click on Databases • Click on “W” • Select WorldCat

  3. Advanced Search Allows you to select: • Location of search terms (keyword, subject, title, author, etc.) • Type of Item • Language • Date of publication

  4. Result List • Shows all results or select by type of Item • Click on title for more information about that Item • Indicates that BSU Libraries has an item • Provides URL if online

  5. Results List cont • Tabs at top show how many items for each type (book, Internet, article, etc) • Default to looking at all items • Click on title of item to see complete record

  6. Complete Record • Provides citation information • Table of contents (if available) • Abstract (if available) • Link to libraries that own this item

  7. Interlibrary Loan You can interlibrary loan items that University Libraries do not own • Click on link “request from another library” • Log in with your BSU ID and password • Fill out ILL form and click on “submit”

  8. Marking records Marking records allows you to compile a list of only those items that are useful for your research • Click on mark box at top of complete record or from results list • Email and print options are at the top of each page
