SKILL INDIA • Under Skill India  campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 15 July 2015 which aims to train over 40 crore people in India with different skills by 2022.MRSPTU has taken some initiatives in this side to enable the youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood. • Introduction of Skill Certification Courses • NSQF Compliance for multi-level Entry-Exit • Finishing Schools, Trainings & Rural Outreach Programmes • Revival of PITs as Skill Development Hubs

Skill Certification Courses Plumber Welder Electrician Tools & Die Maker Computer Maintenance & Programming Assistant Food Processing Farm Equipments Technician Refrigeration and AC Mechanic Servicing & Maintenance of Electronic Instruments • Seamless movement between Education & Work arena • NSQF Compliance with multiple exit points • To develop skill and improve employability in Punjab • In collaboration with renowned industries and training centres • Hands on training at leading industries & organizations.

  6. SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN TRADITIONAL TEXTILE & APPAREL At Textile Eng. Department, GZSCCET • Effort for Revival of the Cottage Industry in the Modern era. • Effort to Revive the lost Heritage of Phulakaris & Baags. • Training of weaker sections& students in Embroidery and Apparel design and production • Institute will have its own Brand Name & Marketing team • Complete experience of ‘Design-Manufacture-Market’ pathway

SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN IN WASTE MANAGEMENT & HYGIENE At MRSPTU • Skill development in waste collection, management and cleanliness. • Training of health workers for hygiene, safety and cleaning practices. • May solve problems related to health and safety of Safai workers • Training centre to be established at MRSPTU

  8. SKILL DEVELOPMENT IN CUTTING & SEWING Running at PIT Nandgarh • Skill development in tailoring • Training of rural people for livelihood • May serve to the local industries • Own entrepreneurship may also be developed • Training for empowerment and social upliftment

SKILL CERTIFICATION – TOOLS AND DIE At PIT Rajpura • In collaboration with Central Tool Room, Ludhiana • One month extensive practical training at Central Tool Room, Ludhiana • Placement assistance to all students • Real time job simulations • In built component of training for skill development

SKILL CERTIFICATION IN FOOD PROCESSING “Earn While Learn” At PIT Arniwala • Skill development in food product manufacturing & packaging • Setup of Pilot Scale Production Facility • Training of M.Sc. (FST) & B. Tech (FT) for • Pilot scale production of various food • Products and their marketing • Own entrepreneurship opportunity for students • Establishment of own industry & marketing unit • Complete training of students from Lab-to-Industry-to-Market

SKILL CERTIFICATION – COMPUTERS • Task based Teams as per Area of thrust: • Software development • Providing IT based solutions to Govt. of Punjab on various issues for better administration and implementation of various schemes • Android App Development • Computer Proficiency • Will provide students opportunities for professional development and their team can serve as a Nucleus for future entrepreneurs. • In rural areas, this will support training for making the youth of Punjab job ready.

WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED UNDER SKILL DEVELOPMENT • Adobe Digital India Workshop:The main objective of the program is to enhance and empower skills of teachers and students in the with new age skills in the Digital era. Adobe Digital Disha program offers workshops with practical hands on training using Adobe Spark Adobe Spark is an integrated suite of storytelling digital applications for the mobile and web developed by Adobe Systems. It is developed on Adobe's Artificial Intelligence platform called Adobe Sensei. It comprises three separate applications: Spark Page, Spark Post, and Spark Video.

  13. AICTE Training Workshop by ETHNUS of AICTE: The aim of the workshop is on improving the employability of Engineering Graduates (Soft Skills). It is one of the latest initiatives of AICTE. Trainers from ETHNUS-Bangalore will conduct the training session for students
