  2. Holy Spirit Then • He worked in creation • He worked throughout the life of Jesus • He worked through miracles • He worked through inspiration

  3. Holy Spirit Today • When we obey the gospel, we receive “the gift of the Holy Spirit”Acts 2:38 • But what is that gift? The Holy Spirit in us? Or His gift – salvation? • It is NOT miraculous. He IS instrumental in our lives!

  4. Holy Spirit Today • His work in our Salvation • 1 Corinthians 6:11, “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justifiedin the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

  5. Holy Spirit Today • He purifies our souls1 Peter 1:22, He is instrumental in making us pure in God’s eyes. • Titus 3:4-5, saved us – through renewing of the Holy Spirit

  6. Holy Spirit Today • He intercedes for usRom. 8:26, in our prayers – He is there helping our requests to be properly heard

  7. Holy Spirit Today • He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgmentJohn 16:7-11 • He bears witness1 John 5:6, 8

  8. Holy Spirit Today • He leads usRomans 8:14 • He strengthens usEphesians 3:16

  9. Holy Spirit Today • He sanctifies us1 Cor. 6:11

  10. Holy Spirit Today • He dwells within usRomans 8:9-11, 1 Cor. 6:19-20, Acts 5:32 • How? • While He is there, it is NOT:Through feelings or enlightenmentThrough visions or some small voiceThrough miracles, etc. His dwelling involves His influence!

  11. Holy Spirit Today • His influence is related to His Word! • Romans 1:16 • HE is NOT the word, but the word is His instrument.

  12. Holy Spirit Today • The Spirit - and - the word • 1 John 5:6 “The Spirit is truth” • Purifies - 1 Pet. 1:22 (truth) • Begotten (born again) – 1 Cor. 4:15 • Convicts – cf. Acts 2:37

  13. Holy Spirit Today • The Spirit - and - the word • Bears witness – John 5:39 • Leads us – Psa. 119:105 • Strengthens us – Col. 2:6-7

  14. Holy Spirit Today • The Spirit - and - the word • Sanctifies us – John 17:17 • Dwells in us – Col. 3:16 • He dwells in us as the Father (Jn. 14:23), Jesus (Gal. 2:20, Eph. 3:17, Rom. 8:10), the word dwell in us! Influence!

  15. Holy Spirit Today • The Spirit - and - the word • WE need to let Him lead us – Rom. 8:12-14, 1, 5-6 • How? Ephesians 6:17 • Galatians 5:16-25 - The fruit of the Spirit How to overcome evil, live by the Sprit, the qualities of the fruit of the Spirit are ALL revealed in His word. When we apply the Word of God, the Spirit dwells within us!
