650 MHz Project • Cavities=everything associated with dressed cavities for horizontal test • Cavity • Tuners • Helium vessels • Magnetic shielding • Couplers, etc. • Cryomodules=everything else • Define interfaces similarly to plug-compatibility concept of S1-Global cryomodule [but with common components] • Much of this work will be intertwined – requires close communication
650 MHz Project Assumptions • Cryomodules • Assume b=0.9 cryomodule comes ~first, and b=0.6 CM based on b=0.9 • JLab (MOU final) to produce a document, generic to either beta, with SNS vs. Type-4 CM comparison, specifically focused on optics and reliability (Jan 2011) • India (MOU in progress): • b=0.9 CM design (Q4 2011), prototype, fab • b=0.6 CM design (Q1 2012), prototype, fab • FNAL very preliminary scale-up of Type-4 for 650 MHz, incl. preliminary cryogenic piping sizes, see Tom Peterson’s slides
650 MHz Project Assumptions • Cavities • FNAL • Draft functional specification exists • Some key inputs not final, e.g., MAWP, HOM or not, coupler port size, required gradient & Q0, df/dP • Ordered six prototype b=0.9 1-cells, will order 2 prototype b=0.9 5-cells • Design:1-cell design drawings complete; 5-cell design engineering drawings in progress • JLab (MOU final) builds/processes/tests two b=0.61 1-cells, due May 2011 and <Sep 2011 • India (MOU in progress) • b=0.9 cavity design (Q4 2011), prototype, fab [Avinash:1-cell proto Q4 2011, 5-cell proto Q4 2012] • b=0.61 cavity design (Q1 2012), prototype, fab • Builds b=0.9 helium vessels, blade tuners, participates in coupler and instrumentation design
650 MHz FNAL cavity design • LINAC10 (S. Barbanotti et al.) b=0.61 Drawings from Chuck Grimm b=0.9
Plans for next days • Compile list of questions for functional specification • Define as much as we can • Give ranges for as much of the remaining as possible • Leave remainder TBD, hopefully with a plan for how to fill • Improve the schedule, including milestones • Plan for regular, common (cavities, cryomodules) meeting
