Hurricane Hermine Shell Point Beach September 2016
Friday Morning – September 2 • Friday morning the trailer is thankfully still in place, almost. It was pushed forward, then rolled back; now slightly off center and trapping a hose. Water -and seaweed - did get inside. • The drying rack parallel to the beach is gone. The top rail was near the flag pole in Joeann's yard. • The picnic table next to the wind garden is undermined and listing. Evidence of early Shell Point structures are further revealed. The wind garden stood strong. • The flag pole saw some wave action washing a river of sand elsewhere. • Further west, the large Pavillion lost even more beachfront as did the cedar tree. No obvious damage but important support now gone.
By the Grace of God, we were spared injuries and death. We are fortunate.
