MISSION Support to WB6 governments to manage migration (European Integration of WB, Implementation of UN policies & provisions) By initiating, facilitating, coordinating: • HARMONISATION OF NATIONAL LEGAL FRAMEWORK with EU legal provisions • CAPACITY AND INSTITUTION BULIDING • INFORMATION EXHANGE
CONTEXT • 2004 - 2015 Thessaloniki 2003, Stability Pact, SEECP (post conflict in WB) • 2008 – transfer of ownership from donors to 6 governments • 2015 - (Migration Crisis 2015, New EU Strategy for WB6 2018)

APPROACH & AMBITIONS • BOTTOM – UP • Process is as important as the goal to be achieved • Definition of common denominator of regional needs is the basis for credible actions • MARRI to be SUBSTATIVELY relevant regional address for support good regional migration management • Improvement of migration management to contribute to EU accession and implementation of UN migration policies

Responses to be given • further alignment with EU acquis and practice standards – European Agenda on Migration and EU Migration Partnership framework • More regional meetings, consultations, regular communication and cooperation at all levels • Mobilization of additional resources with cooperation of governments and NGOs • More assistance to national administrations to overcome insufficient resources (knowledge, equipment, infrastructure for asylum and anti-trafficking issues
