Andrew Lesnak interacted with other victims of Hurricane Sandy while counseling • After he stabilized his life from the devastation of the hurricane, Andrew started serving as an advocate to those other suffering victims • He found the “purpose” of his life, while serving in community service and volunteerism • The mental health effects of this disaster, which were addressed regularly at his sessions, included severe depression, distress, anxiety and hopelessness, addictions, along with many other psychiatric disorders • Fortunately, through his constant positive reinforcement to his clients, the rate of suicide began to decline under his guidance
Andrew took his commitment of volunteerism to the next level with Red Cross organization • The Red Cross organization aims at helping people with food, medical care and shelter after they had been affected by the many catastrophic events of the world • As an independent organization, it also ensures humanitarian protection and assistance for the victims of war and armed violence
Andrew Lesnak decided to create a Community Outreach Program • This program was aimed at assisting the victims of catastrophic events • He provided victims with affordable housing, as well as training to enhance their earning capabilities, to comfortably live within their new home • He also helped them communicate effectively, to maximize their economic awards provided by the many governmental agencies, like FEMA
Andrew started The Spero Advocacy Group to make inroads in the field of mental health and life coaching • Andrew designed a program, to help become a positive influence in the lives of Hurricane Sandy victims • The motto of his organization is quite consistent to his beliefs “While I Breathe, I Hope” • Andrew has made great successes, in various charitable ventures, that he has participated in
Andrew’s life, prior to the Hurricane Sandy disaster, in 2012 • He was a professional baseball player with the Minnesota Twins in 1982 • He was a successful businessman, and a product of an inner-city upbringing, from The Bronx, in New York City
