For alternatives 1-3, which system methodology applies to each ? • For numbers 1 and 2 SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle) applies to these alternatives because they would be based on a system (email) that has already been established. • RAD (Rapid Application Development) and OOD (Object Oriented Development) apply to scenario 3 since it is based on a customized program based on the needs of the partners organization.

Steps required for alternative 2 • Firstly, Baker Barker and Bickel must define their goals and what they hope to accomplish • -In this case being achieving a competitive advantage and solving their customer problem • Secondly, they must eliminate non-sensible projects • -Such as the cost limitations of developing the system. • -What is the schedule or time frame they hope to have the system completed. • -Whether the system would be legally achievable.

Steps required for alternative 2(continued) • Personnel Needed: • -Systems Analyst who understands both Business and Technology related fields. • Design Stage • -Program Design would be used because they're choosing to utilize “off-the-shelf” licensed software already existing. • System Testing • -Use a Test Plan in which the users will use every line of program code to test for errors.

Steps required for alternative 3-Using (SDLC) • Personnel Needed • -Systems Analyst • -Database Designer because entirely new system is being constructed. • Design Stage • -The developers are constructing a database thus they would convert the data model to a “Database Design” • The Database would undergo a rigorous “Test Plan” to uncover any errors. • Then move onto a “Phased Installation” to be sure that each portion of the program is operation correctly.

  10. Difference between SDLC and RAD for Alternative 3 • Prefer to use a mix of both system types • The email system is already established and easy to use • RAD provides small amount of customization • Caters to the use of the business using different applications not available in e-mail
