    1. IAMFA Energy Label The British Library Energy Initiatives

    2. IAMFA Energy Label UK benchmarking Energy at The British Library

    3. IAMFA Energy Label Museums and galleries are unique in their design and in their function. Some buildings over 200 years old (facades). Security of the national archive. Priceless artefacts. Environmental conditions to be maintained (UK BS 5454). Energy hungry buildings - St Pancras G DEC rating. IAMFA President wanted a simple multi-national tool that could be used by the membership to produce their building energy label.

    4. UK Display Energy Certificate (DECs) Public buildings over 1000m2 to be assessed for a Display Energy Certificate (UK). DEC Energy Benchmarks differ from CIBSE Guide F Energy in Buildings. CIBSE TM46 Energy Benchmarks which are used for DEC operational rating.

    5. UK Energy Benchmarking

    6. Energy benchmarks We thought it a good idea to display good and typical practice energy benchmarks so that a quick comparison can be made. For the UK we have referenced CIBSE Guide F Energy in Buildings.

    7. DEC OR Benchmarks

    10. IAMFA Energy Label Facilities Issues Questionnaire 2009 questionnaire is on-line. Over 50 organisations from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA & UK responded with data. Energy label ‘TEST’ set up for BL to produce an Energy Label. Section D1 Questionnaire modified to accommodate 4 years data.

    11. Facilities Issues Questionnaire

    12. Section D1 Utilities (old form)

    13. Revised Utilities Form

    17. Energy mapping Lighting Sub-metering

    18. Carbon Reduction Commitment The Carbon Reduction Commitment is a new mandatory carbon-trading scheme being introduced in the UK for large non-energy intensive organisations from April 2010. It will apply to organisations with half-hourly metered electricity consumption greater than 6,000 MWh per year. At the start of each financial year, organisations affected will be required to purchase allowances of carbon that they expect to emit over the following year. In October each year, organisations will be placed in a CRC league table. Those with poor environmental performance will be penalised, whilst those with good performance will be rewarded.

    19. Building energy certificates/labelling

    24. Fluorescent tubes are subject to losses by means of ballasts/control gear. These losses can account for 12 – 20% of luminaire power. We used an average of 15% gear losses in our energy calculations

    25. Energy mapping

    27. Kings Library Tower – Replace the T8 lamps with LED tubes.
