CASE - 1 • A 45-year-old lady presented with inter menstrual bleeding. On colposcopic examination an irregular area is seen in the cervix. A cervical smear was collected. Dysplastic cells were present in the smear and a cervical biopsy was also done. Cervical smear and biopsy section are given for interpretation.
1. Identify the different cells seen in Papanicolaou smear. • 2. What are the microscopic findings in the biopsy? • 3. What is your diagnosis?
CASE - 2 • A 45-year-old lady presented with menorrhagia. Pelvic examination revealed an irregularly enlarged uterus. Hysterectomy was done. The gross specimen & microscopic section from the tumor are provided.
1. Describe the specimen & give your diagnosis. • 2. Describe the microscopic appearance. • 3. What are the degenerative changes that can occur in this lesion? • 4. Can malignant change occur in this lesion? How will you differentiate benign & malignant smooth muscle tumors?
CASE - 3 • A 50-year-old lady presented with fullness of the abdomen. On ultrasound examination a cystic mass was found arising from right ovary. Ovariotomy was done. The gross specimen & slide are provided for your opinion.
1. Describe the gross appearance of the specimen& give your diagnosis. • 2. Classify ovarian epithelial tumors. • 3. What is the reason for ascites in patients with ovarian tumors?
CASE - 4 • A young girl was brought to the emergency room with abdominal pain of sudden onset. An ovarian tumor was detected on the right side on ultrasound study. Patient underwent emergency ovariotomy. The specimen is provided.
1. Describe the gross specimen and give your diagnosis. • 2. What are the different types of tissue that can be seen in this tumor? • 3. What are the complications that can occur in this tumor? • 4. Name few germ cell tumors.
CASE - 5 • A 42-year-old lady presented with irregular uterine bleeding and passing small vesicles through the vagina. After detailed investigations, hysterectomy was done. The specimen & slide are provided for your opinion.
