Introduction Results Based Financing Workshop Gaston Sorgho World Bank Institute (WBI) October 20-24, 2008
One question you have • Take two minutes to think about Results Based Financing (RBF)and related issues. • Write down one question (i) that strucks you and (ii) you want to have an answer: • technical, strategy, knowledge, information • country, policy, process, supply-side, demand-side, service organization, evaluation • international cooperation, sustainability • hope, doubt you have • etc…
Answering the question you received • If you are confident that you know the right answer to the question you received, that is fine, but double check. • If not, find out the answer by talking to as many persons as possible. Don’t talk to your friends you know. Look for those persons you don’t know or you know less. • Introduce yourself before you request the help of the person you want to talk to. • Prepare to share the answer with the group when you are asked to do so.
Workshop Objectives Increase knowledge and stimulate the implementation of RBF systems that are effective at improving child, newborn and maternal health: • Explore the basics of results-based financing. • Share experiences from countries that have implemented RBF successfully. • Develop and/or refine RBF designs
Workshop Outcomes • Countries chosen to receive funding from the HRIG • refine their designs and • develop implementation plans. • Other countries interested in RBF • draft a country Blue Print for RBF interventions and • an action plan identifying immediate next steps.
Workshop Methodology • Presentations / plenary discussions • Group Work per country • The Blueprint Guide: step by step • Field Visit: observe the facts • Action Plans: follow-up tool
