Merchant community • Definition: Large groups of people who specialize in trade, oftentimes long distance trade with foreign peoples. They usually help increase wealth in the country. • Examples? • Greek maritime traders, nomads?, silk road traders
Tributary System of Production • Definition: A payment in money or other valuables made by one ruler or nation to another in acknowledgment of submission or as the price of protection or security (admitting you’ve been taken over and paying taxes, but you get to keep most of your independence) • Examples? • Han China, Mongols, United States?

Dynasty • Definition: A family of rulers whose right to rule is passed on within the family • Examples? • Han Dynasty, Egyptian Dynasties, Tudors in England
