  1. What is an Imaginative Story? • Definition: Imaginative writing invents a situation or story based on the writer's imagination. The writer may create a scene, situation, or character; may predict what might happen under hypothetical circumstances; or use his/her creativity to solve a hypothetical problem. The writer may use his/her knowledge of the world to bring a unique flair or flavor to the writing but is not bound by the constraints of reality. Imaginative writing may contain elements of fantasy.

  2. What should it include? Characters:The people (or sometimes animals or robots) in the story Setting:The place and time where the story happens Plot:The events that happen in the story and the reasons they happen Conflict:A problem that the characters experience

  3. Fiction and Nonfiction Fiction Nonfiction Nonfiction - is the opposite of fiction. Books that are nonfiction, or true,are about real things, people,events, and places. • Fiction - Books that are made up by the author, or are not true,are fiction.

  4. Purpose: • Opportunities to develop complex skills such as higher order thinking, problem-solving, collaborating, and communicating increase • Technology skills improve • In-depth understanding of subject topic increases
